Employment History

Owner 1991 - Present - Andrews Marine Enterprises, Inc Manteo, North Carolina

This company has had broad ranged services derived over 40 years of marine related, hands on work. During the past 20 years, performing all types of surveys on many different types of vessels along with insurance adjusting has been the primary scope of work. I am an AMS® with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors®, holding yacht, small craft, fishing vessel designations, as well as 3rd party vessel inspector. I have listed below services that this company has performed in the past of which I have derived my experience:
  • Commercial Diving Services - prop changes, salvage, repairs and sinkings
  • Commercial Towing - groundings, breakdowns, sinkings and barge transport
  • Marine Surveyor - surveys, new construction inspections, insurance claims and consulting
  • FEMA & N C Adjuster - marine, wind, flood, fire and damage claims
  • Licensed USCG / 100 ton Master - commercial & charter fishing, tow boat operator, deliveries and sea trials
  • Vessel Repairs - minor & major repairs on wood, fiberglass, aluminum and steel vessels
  • Related Marine Work - trailer repairs, dock construction, hurricane prep and vessel maintenance
CAPTAIN 1987 - 1991 - Davis Yachts, Inc Wanchese, North Carolina

My position with this company was factory captain. This included all sea trails of new vessels for production personnel, new owners and prospective buyers. These sea trails were at the factory, boat shows and various locations along the east & gulf coasts, including the Bahamas & Virgin Islands. Other responsibilities included deliveries of the vessels to many different locations, fishing the vessels in tournaments and demonstrations at these locations, including overseas destinations. Giving hands on technical data to engineers, brokers and prospective buyers was also performed on a regular basis with numerous expense and repair reports expected.

OWNER 1984 - 1986 - Albemarle Communications Manteo, North Carolina

This company was a sub-contractor to United Telcom, now Sprint. My responsibilities included location of buried cables, repair of damaged cables, maintenance of cables and installation and hook up of new construction. Detailed reports were a daily task on work performed, service status and accidental contractor damage. Maintenance logs were also kept and used in company publications.

SELF EMPLOYED 1977 to Present - Captain, Mate & Laborer Manteo, North Carolina

From my first job in a custom wood boat shop at age 12 to my present job status, I have worked with many people, doing many different jobs in the marine industry. During this period, I have worked in and around boat shops and yard, which range from simple commercial fishing vessels to the modern production vessels performing work from repairs to new construction. Operation of these vessels have also been a major source of knowledge from simple skiffs to large private yachts.
